Lynx ordained a Priest

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways—oracle of the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

The Lord’s Holy will is perfect! As a very close friend of Fr. Lynx’s who has walked with him on his journey to the priesthood for many years, I can say that the Lord’s timing is perfect. During the long Memorial Day weekend when so many across the nation gathered after a long hiatus away from family and friends, we drove to New Jersey to witness our dear friend, brother and godfather to our first born, become a priest of Jesus Christ. Praise be to God!

I was so moved to witness the Sacrament to Holy Orders that Fr. Lynx received along with four others from the Newark diocese. It was a beautiful Mass filled with so much joy and reverence. Fr. Lynx’s peace shined, and great joy shined forth particularly when, after Mass, we were able to approach him at the side altar to St. Joseph and receive his blessing. God is good!

That evening we gathered at the home of a sister of the community and praised the Lord and enjoyed each other’s company. It is such a blessing to gather with brothers and sisters, particularly when we are celebrating the delight of a new vocation. It was an intimate evening filled with praising, laughter and good food.

On Sunday we attended Fr. Lynx’s first Holy Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Lynx’s parish since he was a child. The Mass was a beautiful occasion to witness our bother and friend live his vocation at the altar. Witnessing this, his first Mass, reminded me of the beauty of each priests “yes” and how, without their sacrifice, we would not have Jesus in the most Holy Eucharist. This is reflected in the gesture we saw in the Sacrament of Holy Orders when the bishop anointed Fr. Lynx’s hands with holy oil. These are the blessed hands that bring us Jesus Christ!

Later that evening we celebrated together with all of Lynx’s friends and family of whom so many have waited for this day for so long. Together with two bishops, dozens of priests, religious, friends, family and community we rejoiced in Fr. Lynx’s priesthood to the Catholic Church. Throughout the evening there were several toasts, speeches and a video compiled by brothers and sisters of the community that brought greetings for Lynx from all over the world.

The weekend was a blessing, and we ask all those who read this post to please pray for Fr. Lynx and his vocation. That he may not be a priest, but rather a holy priest!

Fr. Lynx is now assigned to a local parish in Caldwell, New Jersey and will be serving God’s people and continuing his mission with the local community.

Praise God for all His wonders!
