Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
Wow! Baptism is just unbelievable! John and I are overjoyed to have baptized our little Teresa! She is so small and dependent on us, but our love for her is so strong that we become her servants. We feed her, we bathe her, we clothe her, we hold her, we swaddle her so she may sleep well, we do everything so she may be satisfied! But, like any of you who have been around a baby know, the moment you sit down to rest, you hear that crying because your little one needs something again! Like Jesus told us, the things of this world are water that will make us thirsty again, and this happens to our little one all the time, no matter how lovingly we give everything to her!
But through baptism, we decided to give her the living water Jesus spoke of! As parents we are limited to what we can do for this precious little soul! She is so much more than a being that needs food, sleep and shelter. She is an eternal soul, destined for greatness and a relationship with the most powerful and amazing being alive! By choosing to baptize her, we say YES, we want our daughter to have this relationship!! We want her soul to receive this living water, the only thing that will quench the thirst of her soul.
That day, she still cried for food, dirty diaper and many other things. But her soul was radically different; it was completely changed! Through this POWERFUL sacrament, she came into contact with her Creator! She was washed and purified; she became a child of God and began that relationship where He will give her living water so she may have eternal life!
Congratulations to John and Natalia and to Pablo and Anne. The family just got bigger: glory to God!
how wonderful ! I was not even aware that you were welcoming the little girl !
