Fr. Dominique of Larchmont, NY shares with the brothers and sisters his experience during the national gathering in Long Island just over 12 days ago now.
“I was very touched by the area at the retreat house with all the the ducklings! These cheerful little swimmers flocked to their mother duck at the slightest alert. There was also an ominous, sharp-edged beak, heron that appeared on the top of the terrace that brought all the little ones even closer to their mother. This clearly illustrates Jesus’ Words as He weeps over the beloved city of Jerusalem… We should never forget the Lord’s motherly concern for our fidgeting souls.
I was also very moved in seeing old brothers such as Jean-Luc who came in from Rome. What a gift from God! Remembering the last time I had seen some of these brothers and sisters was incredible. I had not spoken to Fr. Joseph since a gathering the community had in Latrobe, PA in 2002, just before WYD in Toronto, Canada! I also enjoyed meeting new brothers and sisters and listening to the witness on marriage given by Patricia and Michal.”
As one of the first members of the Emmanuel Community, Dominique sees for himself how this “frail Community of Paris founded way back in 1974, grows everywhere; a great sign of hope for us all!”
