Brothers dwelling in Unity

For the Columbus holiday, I spent a much needed break with my brother priests in Larchmont. Thomas, Dominique and Frank were expecting me with open arms and I too was looking forward to some fraternal time with brothers of the Emmanuel Community.

I arrived on Friday, October 10th and stayed until Tuesday, October 14th. Those were days spent in prayer, praise and in sharing the simple joys of every day life. Chanting the Divine Office took me back to my year in Namur, especially since we had a few occasions to pray it in French. A daily “Apero” and well-cooked meals were the perfect catalysts to lead us into good conversations on our particular vocations and how the Lord was working in our lives. On Columbus Day, we visited West Point Academy in New York and enjoyed, not only the splendid chapels, but the foliage which had already begun their annual Autumn change. Laughter was present in almost anything we said or did, and laughter is a sure sign of joy, and that joy is a sure sign of the presence of the Holy Spirit. How true are the words of Psalm 133:

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”
