Dear brothers and sisters, thanks be to God, I have arrived safely to Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. Between arriving at the Miami airport, layovers in the Santo Domingo and Rio de Janiero, I arrived twenty-two hours later! I am living with two Emmanuel Community priests. Fr. Xavier and Fr. Etienne.

Today I received my weekly schedule and look forward to settling into this time of encountering the Lord Jesus through daily Mass, Eucharistic adoration, praise, and Lectio Divina. I will continue to study Theology along with Portuguese before serving in the parish’s tutoring program. The program has a total of 61 children and I finished my first day serving there today.

It is really exciting to be living close with brothers and sisters of the Emmanuel Community, particularly in experiencing fraternity through weekly household meetings, monthly community retreat, and be assigned a companion. I ask that you please continue to pray for me, particularly in my ability to patiently transition learning another language!

Obrigado! Tchau!”

David
