Although Lent has come and gone and we are counting down the days for Pentecost, it is never too late to talk about great steps we make in parish life.
For the first time in our parish of St. John and Paul in Larchmont, NY, we walked the Way of the Cross throughout the surrounding neighborhood. All three priests and one of our two deacons were present. I had previously selected the homes in which there was a suitable area near the door or window where we could post large drawings of the Stations.
The drawings were produced by our St. John and Paul 8th graders. When I approached the owners of these “suitable” windows I was welcomed by almost every home, even though not all the families were Roman Catholics.
During the Way of the Cross, which lasted about one hour, we blessed all the people living in the neighborhood and surrounding areas.
In thanksgiving for this great new step in our parish and of course for being able to live such a prayerful time during the Lenten season, we sent thank you cards to each “stations hosting” home. An experience we shall certainly renew next Lent! Please pray for us!
