In early December of 2009, I received a message from an American man living abroad in Italy. My first thought? “Oh no! Not someone abroad!” I ignored the message and went about my business.
We were both 37 years old and realized we pretty much each knew what we wanted in life. We asked a married couple to help us ask each other the right questions in order to discern, to make up our minds and see if we wanted to get married together.
We met for the first time at the ages of 18 and 22 but it was only a few years later, through an Emmanuel Community Youth prayer group, that we started to get to know each other better.
I left my family to go to study in another city in our country. I had several contenders at that time. I noticed Emeric at the daily Masses in parish, he attended before going to work.
