Young Adult Gathering

We invite you to join us for A Heart on Fire, a young adult retreat sponsored by the Emmanuel Community’s YA Committee for the United States. We will spend Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30) together in the most apostolic capital city in the US (Saint Paul, MN) and are sure that the Lord, who came to set the world on fire (Luke 12:49), will set us ablaze.

A Heart on Fire refers both to our encounter with the Sacred Heart of Jesus (a core element of the spirituality of the community) on retreat and the transformation we know the Lord wants to work in us through this time (that is, setting our hearts on fire). There will be daily mass, silent adoration, praise, fraternal fellowship, and formation. The latter will include topics such as Is He Alive, Dreaming with the Holy Spirit, Slow and Poor Evangelization, and Introduction to the Emmanuel Community. Through it all, we are determined that the Holy Spirit himself will be our retreat master.

This weekend is for those who have been members of the Emmanuel Community for many years and in a special way for those who are just discovering the community or who have never heard of it before. It is for Americans and for our international brothers and sisters. It is for those who are heavy-laden and those seeking the next summit of discipleship. It is for those whom the Lord desires! (And I’m guessing that means you!)

You will find more details below, so you have all the information you need to make your travel plans. Please register as soon as possible so the logistics team can prepare to welcome you as well as possible. Don’t hesitate to contact Bridget (bridgethoran AT gmail.com) if you have any questions!

United in Prayer,

Bridget & Juan Carlos (CA), David (MN), Gabriel (NJ), Kathleen (ND), and Nancy (CA)

When

Begins: Friday May 27th at 6:00 p.m. Please plan to arrive earlier (ideally noon) if you want to serve on the music team.

Ends: Monday May 30th. A midday picnic will be the last element of the formal program, but fraternal time will continue for those who can stay longer.

The retreat will officially begin on Friday evening. Although it may be a challenge to arrive by then, the sooner we can all be together, the more fruitful the retreat will be for all of us!

Where

This year we will meet in Saint Paul, at the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe is Fr. Andrew Brinkman, a priest of the Emmanuel Community who is happy to welcome us.

Transportation

The Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) is the best choice for air travel. Please share your flight information with the team when you register so we can arrange pick-up and drop-off.

We are hoping to be able to provide accommodations for all those coming in from out of town. If you live in the Twin Cities area, please be as generous as you can with your home. If you are travelling, please know we are looking forward to welcoming you warmly!
