This Friday, Sept. 14, the Feast of the Holy Cross, St. Catherine of Siena Church in New York will have a solemn Mass at 5:15pm followed by all-night Adoration. This is an annual event which the parish offers for the intentions of all those in the nearby hospitals and for those who care for them. If you are in the city, please consider attending the Mass or spending some time in Adoration to pray for our sister Suzanne who is in her last moments.
A few of us have also decided to fast on Fridays for as long as Suz is in the hospital. Please join us in this spiritual exercise if your circumstances permit it.
Detailed plan for the Adoration – for those who can join us:
- Solemn Mass at St. Catherine of Siena at 5:15pm. The Schola Cantorum will sing music of the Italian Renaissance.
- All Night Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament will immediately follow the 5:15pm Mass.
- Solemn Vespers with the Schola will be sung at 7:30pm, and, over the course of the night, Compline, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Rosary, and Lauds will also be prayed.
- Adoration will conclude with Benediction and Sung Mass for the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows the next morning, Saturday, September 15, at 9am.
