This year, on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Vatican proclaimed a new obligatory memorial in honor of our Lady, known as the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church.
It will be celebrated every year on the Monday after Pentecost, the day after we joyfully celebrate the birth of Christ’s Church.
This new feast at the conclusion of Eastertide is a reminder of the eternal relationship of the mystery of salvation and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Redeemer and Mother of the Redeemed.
