On October 6, 2018 the Vatican announced the new members of the dicastery (minister) for laity, the family and faith. Among the nominees Pope Francis named Laurent Landete, from the Emmanuel Community and former international moderator of the Emmanuel Community as consultant member.
The Dicastery promotes pastoral ministries and apostolates aimed at supporting families and the defense of human life. It has a strong attention to youth and young adult ministry and marriage. Further the dicastery has the direct responsibility for promoting a reflection on the role of youth and women in the church and for supporting marriage preparation programs and church outreach.
The new appointed consultants to the office include: U.S. Father Robert W. Oliver, secretary of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors; Dr. Thomas W. Hilgers, founder and director of the Pope Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction in Omaha, Nebraska; Mario Aurelio Poli, Archbishop di Buenos Aires; monsignor Wilton Daniel Gregory, archbishop of Atlanta; US. law professor Helen Alvare, and three married couples from Poland, Singapore and Germany.
Pope Francis confirms a clear support to role and apostolate of the international lay Communities: among Mr. Landete of the Emmanuel Community (France), His holiness appointed Maria Emmaus Voce, president of Focolari movement (central republic of Africa); María Ascensión Romero Antòn, responsible of the neocatecumenal Camino (Spagna); Roberto Fontolan, international director of Comunion and Liberazione; Moysés Louro de Azevedo Filho, founder and general moderator of the catholic community Shalom (Brazil); Daniel and Shelley Ee (Singapore), responsible of the ’International Ecclesial Team del Movimento Worldwide Marriage Encounter; Marco Impagliazzo, president of the Sant’Egidio community (Italy).
