First Community Day in Detroit

September 3rd was the first community gathering in Detroit. We have recently experienced a small growth of our tiny family.  For years the local community had been Eric, David and myself (Alejandra). We have faithful and patiently prayed for brothers and sisters and now the Lord has answered our prayers.

Just over a month ago Emeric and Louisanne from Cameroon but residing Champaign, Illinois for the past 5 years, moved to the Greater Detroit area. For a few years they had been praying to move somewhere where they could be closer to community. The Lord answered their prayers in a surprising way. They had their hearts set to move to Minneapolis where the community has grown in recent years, yet the Lord had other plans. Through a series of encounters with some friends, Emeric was finally offered an opportunity in Detroit. They never had considered Detroit. After praying about it they felt the Lord calling them to completely trust in Him and move to Motown.

The Lord has been faithful. Emeric has found a job and almost immediately found a home for his family. Because of this recent move, we have been blessed to feel more like a community. We quickly planned our first community day and invited some families to join us and see what the community was all about.

We started the day with Mass at our local parish and then had the rest of our day at a local park. There were 11 adults and 16 children. It was a beautiful day as we praised, shared lunch and had a short teaching all together. We ended our day with a walk through the park while praying a rosary. We felt so blessed and look forward to many more gatherings as a family.

For all those who pray for growth, God is faithful, in His time and in His way.
